It may be the lazy days of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, but Lamaze International has some exciting events and opportunities coming up that offer all sorts of benefits to perinatal professionals. Read today's post to discover opportunities for you to join that support professional development and benefit families.
First up, Lamaze International is hosting a webinar on August 2, 2023, 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM EDT. “Milk Tears: Lactation Choices Following Loss” will be presented by Kathy Parkes, MSN-Ed, BSPsy, RN, IBCLC, FILCA, CHC, CAHPE. This important topic will provide information and resources for childbirth educators and others to help families navigate options surrounding Lactogenesis II (mature milk production) after a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss. Understanding what options are available, including offering information on donation, suppression or preserving human milk in a meaningful way can offer some comfort when a family suffers the unimaginable, but all too common situation of fetal or newborn demise. Participants may earn 1.50 Lamaze Contact Hours, 1.50 hours of CNE (through CBRN), and 1.50 L-CERPs. Lamaze International members receive a discount on registration. Register here.
Our second exciting news is that applications are now being accepted for LCCE Educator Diversity Scholarships. The LCCE Educator Diversity Scholarship was established as part of Lamaze International’s effort to create an LCCE workforce reflective of our diverse membership and the communities we wish to serve.
We are proud to continue to offer our Lamaze Educator Learning Guide and LCCE Certification Exam scholarships to expand and better prepare our base of educators to improve safe and healthy births for everyone, everywhere.
Lamaze will consider Diversity Scholarship applications from those who come from under-represented groups, accounting for characteristics such as race, ethnicity, geography, gender, age, religion, ability and sexual orientation. The deadline to apply is July 21, 2023 at 11:59 PM EDT. To learn more and apply, click here.
Finally, we hope you are saving the date for the first in-person LamazeLIVE conference event in several years! LamazeLIVE! 2024, will take place March 7— 8, 2024, at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA! And there is still time to submit both speaker and poster presentations, as the deadline has been extended! Learn more and find the link to submit a proposal here.
Lamaze International leadership, volunteers and staff are working hard to bring relevant and useful content, activities and opportunities to current and future perinatal professionals. Consider participating in any of the above events and know you are supporting your own professional development and the Lamaze International organization.
