Five Gifts That Any Childbirth Educator Would Love to Receive

This time of year is full of gift giving opportunities. If you have a childbirth educator in your life, and want to gift them something that feeds their professional passion, here are five ideas for you to consider that will delight them and serve them well as they teach! If you are a childbirth educator, consider sharing this list with anyone who may still need to lock down an amazing gift for you!
1. A Canva Pro subscription
To say that Canva is just a cloud based graphic design platform would be a complete understatement. Using Canva, a childbirth educator can create amazing slide deck presentations, professional looking graphics, videos, logos, coordinated business materials, fun class activities, share and schedule content to social media and even launch a website with almost no effort. Leveling up to the Pro level allows an educator to have customized color palates, and provides access to almost unlimited stock photos and templates. Access all the Pro features for your favorite CBE here.
2. Handcrafted products with a birth theme
I simply love poking around Etsy for beautiful artwork and fun teaching aids. From a stunning watercolor print, to a knitted uterus or some unique jewelry with a birth theme, the number of items that would thrill a childbirth educator are almost unlimited. I am almost ashamed of the number of things I have purchased for my perinatal classes. Some of my favorites have been this breast and baby puppet for my bodyfeeding class, and a “dilation board.” I was gifted this beautiful watercolor series that hangs in my classroom. Etsy is the place to go for unique gifts for the CBE in your life.
3. A subscription to Up-to-Date
For that childbirth educator who simply loves the evidence and cannot get enough, an annual subscription to Up to Date would be a remarkable gift. Up to Date delivers evidence-based clinical decision support that is clear, actionable, and rich with real-world insights. Having access to Up to Date information helps educators stay on the top of their game with all the research behind best practices and evidence based info.
4. A Zoom subscription
The COVID-19 global pandemic has forced childbirth educators to pivot to online classes to keep pregnant families safe. Zoom always comes to the top of the list for a meeting platform because it keeps things simple, yet offers the flexibility and options that make virtual classes fun for participants and the educator too. Live polls, breakout rooms and recording capabilities are just some of the features that educators appreciate. Buy your favorite perinatal professional a year long subscription so they can enjoy all the benefits of Zoom for their online classes.
5. A Lamaze International membership
Lamaze International is a non-profit organization, a trusted global leader, with a mission to advance safe and healthy pregnancy, birth and early parenting through evidence-based education and advocacy. Membership has many benefits and provides an opportunity for connection, discounted continuing education and contact hours and more for childbirth educators everywhere. Consider gifting the educator in your life a year-long membership and watch their face light up at your thoughtfulness.
Childbirth educators will appreciate your kindness when they receive a gift that serves a purpose and delights them as they work to prepare expectant families to have a satisfying and positive birth experience.
